Seared Ahi

There are few things I enjoy more than a gorgeous seared ahi tuna steak.  So much flavor, so few points off your diet and so good for you.  Costco brings in sushi grade tuna on a regular basis.  Yes, it costs the same at filet mignon, but you get a HALF A POUND piece of delicious tuna for ZERO points!!!!!

  • 8 oz sushi grade ahi tuna
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 packet of Stevia
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger
  • 1 tbsp cilantro
  • 1 lime, juiced

Combine everything but the fish to make your sauce.tuna steak 4

Heat a teaspoon of olive oil in a skillet until the oil just starts to smoke.  Season each side of the fish with salt and pepper and toasted sesame seeds. Sear the first side (90 seconds for rare and 2.5 minutes for medium rare. If you want to eat this sushi grade tuna cooked past medium rare…..just…..just, don’t) Turn the steak over to sear the second side.  Once the sear time is reached, turn off the heat and pour the sauce on top of the steak.  Serve the tuan steak 2steak and with now reduced sauce on top.

I serve it with half an avocado (like sushi!), a few cherry tomatoes and a veg.  Enjoy!tuna steak 3
